UNIVERSITAS GADJAH MADA: REBRANDING THE OLDEST UNIVERSITY IN INDONESIA
As the biggest and the most reputable university in Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, realizes the importance of a strong and consistent visual identity.
Pameo was entrusted with the task of this prestigious university with a clear mandate: bringing a new fresh and strong identity for its long reputation and history.
In Indonesia, there are many institutions or higher education institutions that haven’t understand relating to the importance of visual identity or visual brand. They merely focused on the point of symbol and color. Actually, both of them are not sufficient to build a good visual identity.
Universitas Gadjah Mada, as the oldest university in Indonesia, realizes the importance of visual identity. UGM entrust Pameo to rebuild its visual identity. We provide guidelines for using logos, letters, colors, until creating some official luxury merchandise. So that all the designs in UGM can be consistent and formed a good visual identity.
The biggest challenge for us is how to bring a newer, more-fresh, and easy to use logo while preserve its well-known and complicated logo.
Pameo redraw its logo and developed new typefaces to reinforce the wellknow logo. We combined it and create a new simple-tertiary logo to its family.
We crafted almost everything for Universitas Gadjah Mada, from redrawing its well-known logo and made it simpler to be used in various medium; developing new typefaces to reinforce their logo; developing new design for its official stationaries; developing brand guidelines; developing their merchandise guidelines and produce premium and limited souvenirs to be given by its highest officials.
